摘要: At present, comparisons between countries in terms of their road safety performance are widelyconducted order to better understand one's own situation and learn from othercountries. In this respect, crash data such as the number fatalities casualties aremostly investigated. However, absolute numbers not directly comparable betweencountries. Therefore, concept risk, which is defined ratio outcomesand some measure exposure (e.g., population size, vehicles, or kilometrestravelled), often used context benchmarking. Nevertheless, these risk indicators arenot consistent most cases. other words, may have different evaluation results orranking positions using information. study, envelopment analysis(DEA) a measurement technique adopted provide an overall perspective on country's situation, further assess whether outcomes registered country correspond that can be expected based level exposure. More specifically, 2007 for 26 European Union (EU) (except Malta) inhabitants, passenger cars passenger-kilometres travelled model's inputs output. As result, efficiency score computed each ranking accordance with scores evaluated. Furthermore, model results, best- performing underperforming identified, specific benchmarks indicated country. Moreover, challenging targets given by learning its benchmarks, enabling policymakers recognize gap develop policy.
