摘要: The sulfide-induced corrosion of concrete sewer is a widespread and expensive problem for water utilities worldwide. Fundamental knowledge the initiation propagation corrosion, especially interactions between chemical reactions physical structure changes, still largely unknown. Advanced mineral analytical techniques were applied to identify distribution products micro-cracking that developed along boundary. It was found caused by with sulfuric acid progressed uniformly in cement concrete. In contrast conventional knowledge, iron rust rather than gypsum ettringite likely factor responsible cracking ahead front. analysis also allowed quantitative determination major products, i.e., ettringite, latter closer conceptual model based on these findings clearly demonstrated complex among different reactions, diffusion, micro-structure changes.
