摘要: The sulfur amino acids, methionine and cysteine play crucial roles in cells as a substrate for protein synthesis, methyl donor, the synthesis of sulfur-containing compounds, including key intracellular tripeptide, glutathione. Homocysteine is an intermediary metabolite formed during metabolism to cysteine. Dysregulation homocysteine implicated adverse clinical outcomes such increased risk cardiovascular disease, stroke, Alzheimer's disease dementia osteoporosis. While hyperhomocysteinemia commonly observed those conditions, impact on other related metabolites condition-specific. Therefore, there exists need establish precise sensitive analytical techniques that allow simultaneous measurement biological samples. current review outlines development use liquid chromatography electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) simultaneously measure involved acid metabolism. Additionally, extensions technique relation one-carbon kinetics vivo are discussed. LC-MS/MS has capacity unambiguous analyte identification confirmation, due its high specificity sensitivity. It greatest potential being accepted utilized dedicated Standard reference method (SRM).
