摘要: Atmospheric sea-salt aerosol concentrations are studied using both long-term observations and model simulations of Na+ at seven stations around the globe. Good agreement is achieved between predictions in northern hemisphere. A stronger seasonal variation occurs high-latitude North Atlantic than regions close to equator southern Generally, higher for boreal austral winters. With model, production flux removal atmosphere-ocean interface was calculated used estimate global budget. The also shows similar that concentration. Depending on geographic location, predicts dry deposition accounts 60–70% total removed from atmosphere while in-cloud below-cloud precipitation scavenging about 1% 28–39% remainder, respectively. amount aerosols emitted world oceans estimated be vicinity 1.17×1016 g yr−1. Approximately 99% mass generated by wind falls back sea with 1–2% remaining exported original grid square (300×300 km). Only a small portion (∼4%) associated submicron particles likely undergo long-range transport.
