Madagascar Flatidae (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha): state-of-the-art and research challenges

摘要: The paper provides a historical review of the research on Flatidae in Madagascar and indicates future prospects. While first two species were described by Guerin-Meneville (1844), it was Signoret (1860) who made real attempt to enhance our knowledge Hemiptera fauna describing several additional species. Over following century half, investigators have turned their attention this group insects, with final number recorded for island reaching 79. Despite long history research, is evident that much still remains be done. Detailed taxonomic will allow natural changes biological diversity its endemic ecosystems better understood. This should considered as an introduction complex study systematics phylogeny worldwide planthoppers.
