摘要: Abstract We report the far i.r. spectra of crystalline powders uracil, cytosine, thymine, xanthine and hypoxanthine, from 25 to 1000 cm−1. The carbonyl bending modes uracil cytosine have been identified through substitution sulfur for oxygen at C2 position. Wagging torsional amino group as well N1H out-of-plane mode by deuteration studies. Several ring vibrations below 800 cm−1 also identified. A Fermi resonance was observed in case 2-thiocytosine which involves mode, lowest lying wagging group. There appears be a involving two external modes. Two 285 320 involve methyl thymine are tentatively temperature dependence hypoxanthine frequencies
