摘要: Aeration is an essential component of aerobic biological wastewater treatment and the largest energy consumer at most water resource recovery facilities. Most modelling studies neglect inherent complexity aeration systems used. Typically, blowers, air piping, diffusers are not modelled in detail, completely mixed reactors a series used to represent plug-flow reactors, empirical correlations describe impact operating conditions on bubble formation transport, oxygen transfer from bubbles bulk liquid. However, mechanisms involved very complex nature require significant research efforts. This contribution highlights why where there need for more detail different aspects system compiles recent efforts develop physical models entire (blower, valves, piping diffusers), as well adding rigour efficiency (impact viscosity, size distribution, shear hydrodynamics). As result these model extensions, realistic predictions dissolved profiles consumption have been achieved. Finally, current needs further development highlighted.
