摘要: Aquatic ecosystems are increasingly stressed not only by increased nutrient loads (eutrophication) but also changing forms and proportions of nutrients. Nutrient enrichment, composition stoichiometry interact with aquatic food web dynamics in complex ways. Both algal species emergent properties within change composition, turn affecting webs at all levels. Consumers further regulate – may even accelerate discrepancies various feedbacks, release, recycling pathways. Stoichiometric regulation ecosystem structure occurs the sediment interface via altered biogeochemical processes benthic when changes. Thus, multiple feedbacks serve to alter altered. Such lead conditions conducive invasive stable states as illustrated for San Francisco Bay Delta Rhine River.
