The involvement of pharmacists in cardiac rehabilitation: a review of the literature

摘要: Objective To identify, review and evaluate the literature regarding role of pharmacist in cardiac rehabilitation (CR). Method Electronic databases searched up to October 2004 were Medline, Pharmline, Iowa Drug Information service, International Pharmacy Abstracts, Embase, Scanners Web Science. Reference lists identified papers a Zetoc email alert was created identify additional papers. Papers included only if they referred specifically CR programme or patients, also involvement pharmacists concerned pharmacy practice research. Reports not excluded on basis quality, however reports that met criteria for inclusion allocated an evidence grade indicate quality. Key findings Thirteen identified, which six purely descriptive accounts pharmacists’ (all from US) seven evaluative (four US, two UK one Canada). Descriptions providing medicines information education optimising drug therapy. The lack substantial research notable among reports. One study found quality life economic benefits as result CR, another health professionals providemost themedicines required by patients. However these studies weakened meaningful outcome measures. Conclusion There is insufficient base firm conclusions about effectiveness CR. This has implications practitioners, researchers policymakers
