摘要: The effects of competition on populations the bean weevil Zabrotes subfasciatus were analyzed during 41 generations under different levels. Three environments established by maintaining number couples (6) and varying amount available host seeds: HC, high (limited availability host: 1.35 g); IC, intermediate (intermediate 6 LC, low (abundance 36 g). It was found that distribution eggs laid grains among treatments: in for example, although females showed fecundity (35.4 ± 5.6 eggs/female) each grain small (1.2 0.4 seed), thus avoiding larval their offspring; whereas HC treatment, (27.04 4.5 but many (15.03 4.3 eggs). There no changes ability to respond amounts via oviposition behavior (egg distribution) generations. However, had more offspring than LC conditions. This suggests insects evolved toward higher fitness crowded In addition, after inverting level, behaved independently treatment conditions they experienced through generations, showing is flexible. Taken together, our results show Z. presents a broad range behavioral physiological responses which allows quick reversible adjustments sudden resources.
