摘要: To elucidate the character and magnitude of hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemic among drug users in Amsterdam, 197 young from period 2000 to 2004 were compared with 215 counterparts 1985 1989. Although injection risk behavior HCV seroprevalence decreased sharply over time, remains high (44%) who have ever injected. Phylogenetic analysis shows that current infections originate diversification strains already circulating past, but also recent introduction new subtypes. subtypes 1a 3a remain most prevalent other such as 4d 2b entered population. In conclusion, both unpopularity injecting use success prevention campaigns are likely be responsible for decline increased median time seroconversion. Treatment those infected chronically, combination continuation programs, might decrease future transmission. J. Med. Virol. 77:509–518, 2005. © 2005 Wiley-Liss, inc.
