Best practice guidelines for the prevention and mitigation of conflict between humans and great apes

摘要: One of the challenges facing great ape conservation is rising level interaction between humans and apes, resulting conflicts that emerge. It essential we develop a comprehensive understanding existing potential conflict situations, their current or future impacts on both apes humans. This will require integration quantitative qualitative data multiple aspects human behaviour ecology, along with good local people’s perceptions situation. Such knowledge can then be used to effective, locally-adapted, management strategies prevent mitigate human-great conflicts, whilst respecting objectives socio-cultural-economic contexts. These guidelines outline sequence logical steps should considered prior any form intervention, propose possible counter-measures in conflicts.
