摘要: Background and aims. Palatal masticatory mucosa serves as donor material in periodontal plastic surgery. This study determined the palatal mucosal thickness Indian subjects aged 14−59 years by direct bone sounding its association with gender age. Materials methods. observational was conducted on 40 dentate systemically periodontally healthy Indians (age range of 14−59) including 20 males females, who were divided into two age groups: young (14−21) older (30−59). A method a probe prepared clear acrylic stent used to define 12 fixed measurement points for estimation thickness. Multiple linear regression analysis performed examine mean at subject level. Student’s t-test determine difference between groups, genders each point. Results. Younger group had significantly thinner (2.73±0.43) than (2.79±0.28). The exception first premolar molar areas along gingival margin. Females same group, no significant differences. Overall, increased from canine sites farthest margin towards mid-palate. Conclusion. area extending tip mesiopalatal cusp seemed an appropriate site grafting procedures both individuals
