摘要: Abstract Photocatalytic oxidation of the title compounds 1 and 2 in nonaqueous oxygen saturated TiO suspension was carried out. The corresponding ketones were formed a high yield, addition to minor amount hydrocarbon other decomposition products. Interestingly, photocatalytic parent fluorene ( 3 ) afforeded fluorenone under same conditions. Also, compound 4 as an acyclic simulant gave ketone hydrocarbon. Furthermore, effect solvent polarity has been tested. An electron–hole pair generated on irradiated surface is suggested for semiconductor-mediated photocatalysis.
