Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in adolescents: a qualitative study.

摘要: Background Adolescents with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) use different coping strategies to confront the challenges of this disorder. Various studies extracted amongst adult women PCOS, but regarding mental difference between adults and adolescents, specific study was conducted gain a deep understanding how adolescents cope many health issues they experience. Methods Fifteen aged 13-19 years PCOS participated in comprehensive individual interviews goal-oriented, semi-structured questions. Sampling purposive continued until data saturation reached. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis technique. The validity verified through measures including credibility, transferability, dependability, confirmability authenticity. Results helped extract main theme research as "dealing PCOS". consisted three themes 12 sub-theme: (1) Escaping problem (sub-themes: Adopting forgetting mindset, concealment minimization disorder); (2) Depressive mood Poor self-perception low self-esteem, isolation, sleep disturbances, passive aggressive behavior, emotional turmoil, feelings humiliation, adolescents' perceptions); (3) Coping disease Recovery health, positive thinking, hope for recovery). Conclusion In study, showed response their disorder form problem-solving, developing depressive or adjusting Recognizing needs these improving quality life require identification ways which deal PCOS.
