摘要: This chapter describes the principle of operation and main properties interferometric fiber optic gyro (IFOG) which, along with ring laser (RLG) introduced in next chapter, has been a principal departure from well-paved road spinning mass gyros. Both are based on fundamental law physics, namely, universal constancy speed light vacuum underlying relativity. The is not really classical Newtonian sense conservation momentum, but, it takes advantage ‘inertia’ as will be explained below. technology evolved two paths: RLG, being closed-path optical oscillator, active, while IFOG, which draws its energy an external source, passive interferometer.
