摘要: Electromagnetic-wave theory is applied to various cylindrically symmetric distributions of electron density ascertain the dependence reflected radio signals upon system parameters. Results are expressed in terms average effective dielectric constant, circumference/wave-length ratio cylinder, and incident wave polarization. Two models have been mainly considered—a linear radial variation density, a constant distribution. The general properties dependences echoes summarized for each major region trail parameters, transitional characteristics indicated. A qualitative comparison these results with published observational data leads new picture decay period.
