Gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric determination of chlorophenoxy acids and related herbicides as their (cyanoethyl)dimethylsilyl derivatives

摘要: A method for using (2-cyanoethyl)dimethyl(diethylamino)silane to form derivatives with phenoxy acid herbicides and related compounds is presented. Results obtained 18 demonstrate that the reaction quantitative complete within minutes at room temperature. The formed can readily be analyzed by gas chromatography a selective nitrogen-phosphorus detector which eliminates need rigorous cleanup of sample required detection electron capture. Response-concentration plots show linear over several decades limits being in low picogram range all studied. Mass spectral analysis studied indicates spectra are highly specific showing characteristic ions (M-54), (M-82), or (M-98) useful structure confirmation levels selected ion monitoring. analytical advantages approach discussed.
