摘要: Phylogenetic relationships in Daltoniaceae (∼200 species 14 genera) are inferred from nucleotide sequences five genes, representing all genomic compartments, using parsimony, likelihood and Bayesian methods. Alternative classifications for have favoured traits either sporophytes or gametophytes; phylogenetic transitions gametophytic leaf limbidia sporophytic exostome ornamentation were evaluated ancestral state reconstruction to assess the levels of conflict between these generations. Elimbate leaves cross-striate reconstructed as plesiomorphic states. Limbate papillose exostomes evolved at least two six times, respectively, without reversals. The evolution is relatively conserved, but highly homoplasious, indicating that superficial similarity peristomes gives unreliable approximations relatedness. Our analyses show Achrophyllum Calyptrochaeta reciprocally monophyletic. Within core Daltoniaceae, among taxa with elimbate generally well understood. However, limbate form a monophyletic group, resolved subclades correspond biogeographical entities, rather than traditional concepts genera. Daltonia (∼21 species), Distichophyllum (∼100 species) Leskeodon (∼20 polyphyletic. Seven nomenclatural changes proposed here. As current taxonomy lacks consistency, critical generic revisions needed. © 2012 Linnean Society London, Botanical Journal Society, 2012, ••, ••–••.
