摘要: The USDA Forest Service has a legislative mandate to maintain species and community diversity on National System lands uses monitoring determine whether national forests are meeting this goal. Southern Region of the adopted Forest’s Migrant Resident Landbird Conservation Strategy in 1996 address conservation concerns arising from long-term population declines many birds. strategy implemented regionwide program improve monitoring, research, management avian populations their habitats. Monitoring is conducted by 10-minute point counts early April late June across 15 forest units. Our objective was analyze 26 years data collected 1992 through 2017 assess trends habitat associations We used time-removal models within hierarchical Bayesian model framework estimate abundance year, trends, related type successional class. There were 82,367 completed 1,104,423 birds detected. determined for total 152 between 58 117 per forest. Seventy-five had majority positive annual 68 negative all forests. estimated relation class 101 individual bird species. Thirteen generally greater abundances late-successional classes 29 early-successional classes. Twenty-one more abundant specific types, 38 mixed or variable among types. This represents first comprehensive effort 26-year dataset, these results can help inform migrant resident Region. suggest that additional analyses possible investigate causal factors patterns reported here further efforts.
