Reasons of not having breast reconstruction: a historical cohort of 1937 breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy.

摘要: The aims of the study were to investigate factors associated with not having breast reconstruction following mastectomy and assess patient satisfaction information on reconstruction. We analysed a historical cohort 1937 consecutive patients who underwent at Institut Curie between January 2004 February 2007. Their sociodemographic clinicobiological characteristics recorded in prospective database. A questionnaire was sent 10% nonreconstructed patients. proportion invasive cancer 82.7%. rate nonreconstruction situ 34.6% 74.9%, respectively. On multivariate analysis, only employment outside home (p   50, ASA score >1, radiotherapy (p < 0.0001) metastatic status (p = 0.018) nonreconstruction. For 80% responders, personal choice, mainly for reasons: refusal further surgery, acceptance body asymmetry, risk complications advanced age. Information entirely unsatisfactory or inadequate 62% Better understanding that influence decision can help us adapt serve patient’s needs.
