摘要: Despite development in therapeutic strategies, such as neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT), the prognosis of colorectal cancer remains relatively poor. Cancer stem cells (CSC) with several characteristics can lead to resistance. CD133 has been identified a putative CSC marker cancer; however, its functional role still needs elucidation. We verified emphasis on expression location and correlated results clinical outcome cancer. used immunohistochemistry investigate samples from 157 patients colonic adenocarcinoma 76 rectal who received CCRT. also clinicopathological parameters prognosis. protein was variably overexpressed tissues present three locations: apical and/or endoluminal surfaces, cytoplasm, lumen. Cytoplasmic level significantly tumor local recurrence (P = 0.025) survival (P = 0.002), inversely regression grading (P = 0.021) after CCRT The cytoplasm is closely associated patient survival, may provide reliable prognostic indicator help identify surviving areas nearly total
