摘要: The presence of millions immigrants without recognition from the federal government presents serious challenges to American democracy and its legitimacy. By analyzing immigration activism in Austin, Texas, this paper will consider how those excluded formal citizenship seek full membership, or at least associated rights protections, institutions a variety scales responds these efforts. This prevalent notions what means, expanding lines who deserve protection, constructs participatory city level rather than relying on more passive, exclusionary model politics.
