摘要: Behaviour of nocturnal insects is routinely observed under red light, but it unclear how the behaviour light compares to in complete darkness, or a source white light. Here, we measure movement carabid beetle Pterostichus melanarius Illiger (Coleoptera: Carabidae) using camera recording near-infrared (nir), radiation source. Red significantly reduced speed females similar effect and different from nir. Also activity pause length were affected by source, with significant difference between nir intermediate values The results presented here indicate that P. has three sources suggest rather than most appropriate for measuring total darkness. However, field darkness rare both because natural such as moon stars increasingly also ecological pollution, therefore may still be use observing ecologically practically relevant night-time behaviour.
