摘要: The objectives of this study were: (1) to test the hypothesis that food was principal proximate factor limiting distribution birds on Serengeti Plains Tanzania, and (2) generate a satisfactory description relationships avifauna selected habitat factors. I analyzed natural changes in among habitats through time related these variation avian resources. Food limitation apparently not an important affecting short—term variations bird population densities, although many species were functionally capable responding fluctuations supply. Habitat partitioning means "niche segregation" various species. Sites with greatest total biomass had low vegetation biomass, height, but well—developed vertical structure. These conditions provided cover along great degree ground—level mobility for most Individual associated specific types structure, while condition (primarily green biomass) main increased densities within types. Neither conventional competition theory nor Wiens' (1977) "bottle—neck" can account characteristics grassland avifauna.
