摘要: We review experimental findings about the processing of morphologically complex words, and provide a neuro-cognitive account mechanisms that underlie this processing. Within framework brain network supports language comprehension, we argue words created by regular rule-based combinations, such as inflections in English (e.g. played, jumps), engage left-lateralized frontotemporal subsystem, specialized for grammatical computations. In contrast, lexicalized unpredictable complexity, present derived bravely, warmth), engages bilateral which underpins whole-word, stem-based lexical access. suggest potential neurobiological proposed organization.
