摘要: In the present work we analyzed genetic structure of populations terrestrial tortoise Testudo graeca in southeastern Spain, identified as a recent range expansion from North Africa. The study and interpretation species' spatial pattern could provide clues to processes related arrival and, because its endangered status, is especially useful implementing appropriate management measures. We used microsatellite markers analyze 17 located coastal region an external group Algerian tortoises. Three units with high level coherence moderate levels admixture resulted cluster analysis, isolation-by-distance covering entire area was detected. These results suggest that Spanish show complex resulting their isolation African natural dispersal this region. Finally, our shows conservation actions such captive breeding, introductions or translocations, may have played relevant role modification some Spain. Therefore, these types measures should be carried out more caution.
