摘要: Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is a common cause of vision loss in patients <50 years age. In these patients, CNV often the result pathologic myopia, ocular histoplasmosis syndrome, angioid streaks, or idiopathic causes. Rarely, seen children, usually association with inherited macular dystrophies such as Best's disease (vitelliform dystrophy) drusen optic nerve. This article discusses role optometrists detection and management CNV. Untreated can rapid deterioration central associated poor prognosis. Optometrists may be able to improve prognosis younger by recognizing signs, symptoms, risk factors for promptly referring suspected retina specialist. They also help providing long-term support rehabilitation. Recent treatment advances, availability verteporfin (Visudyne; Novartis Pharma AG, Basel, Switzerland) therapy, that are applicable have increased importance early prompt referral specialist who treat
