摘要: Wolbachia are obligatory intracellular and maternally inherited bacteria that infect spread through natural arthropod populations by inducing male-killing, feminization, parthenogenesis, and, most commonly, unidirectional bidirectional cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI). Cytoplasmic can be used to control of insect pests, in a way analogous the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), namely Incompatible (IIT). For successful application IIT (based on CI approach) against target species, it is essential only males released, as release females would lead fertile matings between released establishment Wolbachia-carrying field population. In present study, we describe Wolbachia-infected line VIENNA 8 genetic sexing strain Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae), carries selectable marker temperature sensitive lethal (tsl). We show (1) transferred induce high levels even after treatment required for male-only production, (2) C. cage population suppression experiments SIT. also discuss our results comparison SIT, investigating whether irradiation factors combined toward development novel strategies pest control.
