摘要: The gene for spiralin, the major membrane protein of helical mollicute Spiroplasma citri, was cloned in Escherichia coli as a 5-kilobase-pair (kbp) DNA fragment. complete nucleotide sequence 5.0-kbp spiroplasmal fragment determined (GenBank accession no. M31161). spiralin identified by size and amino acid composition its translational product. Besides gene, found to contain five additional open reading frames (ORFs). products four these ORFs were their homologies with known proteins: ribosomal S2, elongation factor Ts, phosphofructokinase, pyruvate kinase, respectively encoded genes rpsB, tsf, pfk, pyk. product fifth ORF remains be named X (X gene). order above tsf--X--spiralin gene--pfk--pyk. These transcribed one direction, while S2 (rpsB) opposite direction.
