The intensity of Raman scattering in glasses containing heavy metal oxides

摘要: Abstract Exceptionally high Raman intensities have been observed in glasses containing major amounts of Tl 2 O, PbO, Bi O 3 , and / or Sb combination with GeO SiO As . peaks were more than 30× the strength vitreous 3× germania (based on spectra reduced to absolute zero corrected for refractive index differences). The variation peak composition investigated several systems variations found be consistent calculations based a theoretical approach developed by Lines coworkers. Two compositions show particular promise active fiber device applications: one ·GeO exhibiting strong bridged anion mode frequency shift near 400 cm −1 ·PbO·GeO ·SiO superposition acoustic heavy metal modes 140
