摘要: Background and objective The Global initiative for chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) strategy document has been available since 2001. Little is known about level of adherence to the GOLD among hospital-based health professionals assessing managing inpatients admitted with an acute exacerbation obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). The primary aim study was evaluate GOLD. Methods A retrospective audit medical histories completed on a random sample 240 patients hospital diagnosis AECOPD within calendar year. evaluated recommendations appropriateness intensive care unit admissions as well pharmacological non-pharmacological management. Results High levels indications (97%), (100%) prescription bronchodilators were observed. However, antibiotics (45%) oxygen therapy (68%) over-prescribed. Adherence management poor in areas such smoking cessation (25%) rehabilitation referrals (16%). Patients under respiratory team more likely (odds ratio = 2.6, 95% confidence interval: 1.3–5.4) be referred than general medicine team. Conclusions Health had better compared other teams. Nonetheless, interventions both appropriately prescribed also over-prescribed, whereas used rarely, suggesting need practice review these areas.
