摘要: Optical parametric emission, whereby an intense “pump” beam incident on a nonlinear crystal is down-converted into radiation at the sub-harmonic frequency (ω/2), has proved to be efficient means for amplifying light and producing photon statistics with non-classical distributions. In this course, we present principles of optical amplification, review some recent experimental theoretical investigations quantum fluctuations discuss potential applications that these studies suggest.
