摘要: Fisheries in the European Union (EU) continue to be overexploited by an overcapitalised fishing fleet, despite best intentions of two decades capacity adjustment programmes. This paper considers progress under Multi-annual Guidance Programme and examines impact subsidies made available industry. The underlying reasons for modest on improved resource sustainability are considered, reductions nominal terms. These include development issues surrounding use vessel decommissioning. Danish fleet case serves as empirical example this regard. Comments future management regime role EU fisheries offered.
