摘要: Abstract The crystallographic structure of Tb- and Pr-doped ceria is investigated through X-ray neutron powder diffraction, combining pair distribution function UV–vis spectroscopy. Compared to trivalent dopants, Tb Pr show peculiar optical properties: whilst have a mixed +3/+4 valence state, stable mostly in the +4 state up ~50% dopant concentration. For larger amounts, doping promotes fluorite monoclinic phase transformation. A straightforward method for extracting oxidation by cell parameter dependence on ionic radius also proposed.
