摘要: OBJECTIVES: To re-state the principles underlying Goldberg cut-off for identifying under-reporters of energy intake, re-examine physiological and update values to be substituted into equation calculating cut-off, examine its use limitations. RESULTS: New are suggested each element equation. The physical activity level (PAL) comparison with intake:basal metabolic rate (EI:BMR) should selected reflect population under study; PAL value 1.55 x BMR is not necessarily choice. average within-subject variation in intake 23% (unchanged), but other sources increased light new data. For measured estimated BMR, 4% 8.5% respectively (previously 2.5% 8%), total between-subject PAL, 15% 12.5%). effect these changes widen confidence limits reduce sensitivity cut-off. CONCLUSIONS: can used evaluate mean bias reported information on or lifestyle needed choose a suitable requirement comparison. Sensitivity at individual limited. In epidemiological studies home, leisure occupational essential order assign subjects low, medium high levels before cut-offs. small studies, it desirable measure expenditure, calculate requirements, compare directly expenditure.
