Visualization and measurements of periodic boiling in silicon microchannels

摘要: Abstract A simultaneous visualization and measurement investigation has been carried out on flow boiling of water in parallel silicon microchannels trapezoidal cross-section. Two sets microchannels, having hydraulic diameters 158.8 82.8 μm, respectively, were used. The study shows that once heat transfer is established, two-phase single-phase liquid appear alternatively with time the microchannels. Large-amplitude/long-period fluctuations wall temperatures, fluid pressures, mass flux, are measured for first during fluctuation periods found to be dependent channel size, flux. mechanism periodic this experiment as well their comparisons other phenomena reported previously, also discussed. experimental results confirm large-amplitude/long-period can sustained when pressure drop flux have phase differences.With aid a microscope high-speed video recording system, bubbly flow, slug churn peculiar patterns, observed
