摘要: Background: Anger, a component of negative affect, has previously been associated with increased drug use primarily among white high school–aged students. However, few studies have examined these associations over time, and fewer them younger adolescents students color. Affective factors may play greater role in for girls relative to boys; yet, little is known regarding differences between affect by gender.Methods: The current study used data from the control condition (N = 2025) violence preventive intervention trial examine association self-reported anger levels multiethnic urban sixth grade their cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana 1 year later. Potential gender were as well.Results: Multivariate generalized estimating equations models found be significantly increases smoking, drinking, use. There no significant any outcomes.Conclusions: Results are consistent conducted on school youth, where had small but effect time. findings also suggest that prevention programs should include emotion regulation skills, such management, addition resistance skills.
