摘要: Rigid screw fixation of the axis, for either atlantoaxial or incorporation C2 into subaxial cervical constructs, provides significant stability and excellent long-term fusion results but remains technically demanding due to danger injury vertebral artery. Anatomic variability foramen transversarium in body axis can preclude safe transarticular C1-C2 placement up 20% patients. Although more recent methods with pedicle screws allow safer a higher number patients, there risk artery placement. The author describes novel technique rigid using bilateral, crossing laminar screws, not previously reported literature, which does place at during fixation. This has been successfully used by cases craniocervical as well fixations. is illustrated, author's initial experience treating 10 patients crossing, bilateral aminar indications trauma, neoplasm, pseudarthrosis, degenerative disease reviewed. possible advantages are discussed.
