摘要: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects an anti-GnRH vaccine on testosterone concentration, antibody titer, scrotal width, semen quality and sexual behavior in stallion. Adverse reactions were also determined. Eight clinically healthy sexually experienced stallions aged between 6 15 years from National Stud Avenches (Switzerland) used. Five immunized 3 times at interval 4 8 weeks, respectively, with 200 microg a GnRH-protein conjugate (Equity, CSL Limited, Australia) intramuscularly neck control animals received equivalent volume saline solution. Plasma concentrations GnRH titers as well libido determined weekly during 1 year (52 weeks). In addition, width measured all before 4, 12 months after first vaccination. Our results demonstrate that plasma started decrease second vaccination remained suppressed for least whereas one stallion showed no effect. Until end experiment 2 reached prevaccination values. Antibody varied individually 5 peak within weeks third Scrotal significantly (P<0.05) lower vaccinated than Semen decreased improved towards experiment. clearly reduced immunization but normalized while continued show poor libido. From our we conclude three immunizations Equity are tolerated may effectively suppress secretion reduce behavior. inhibiting activity these parameters is different last minimum months.
