摘要: Abstract The text of the British Library's manuscript Harley 3686 is an undated and anonymous Latin version Ptolemy's Geographia with innovative set eighteen non‐Ptolemaic maps Europe, Asia Africa. Links Andrea Bianco's nautical atlas (1436) suggest a Venetian provenance for date between 1436 1450. Map outlines were derived from portolan charts but inland topographical detail toponymy appear to have come Ptolemaic text. codex constitutes one earliest examples synthesis chart, map medieval mappamundi that characterised fifteenth‐century cartography only example such on regional scale. reveals some technical methodological problems must presented period's cartographers.
