Behavior of concrete columns confined with both steel angles and spiral hoops under axial compression

摘要: This study proposed a new type of concrete column that was confined with both steel angles and spiral hoops, named angle-steel (ASCC) column. A total 22 ASCC stub columns were tested under axial compression to investigate their behavior. For comparison, three reinforced (ARC) also tested. The test results indicated had superior mechanical performance. strength, ductility energy absorption considerably increased due the improvement confinement from hoops. behavior failure mechanism investigated by analysis mode, load-deformation curve sectionstrain distribution. Parametric studies carried out examine influences different parameters on columns. calculation approach developed predict ultimate load carrying capacity compression. It validated predicted in well agreement experimental results.
