摘要: A distinctively uneven profile of intelligence is a feature the autistic spectrum. Within spectrum, Asperger individuals differ from autistics in their early speech development and being less likely to be characterized by visuospatial peaks. While different specific strengths characterize spectrum subgroups, all such peaks ability have been interpreted as deficits: isolated, aberrant, irreconcilable with real human intelligence. This view has recently challenged findings performance on Raven's Progressive Matrices (RPM), an important marker general fluid We investigated whether these extend syndrome, subgroup verbal ability, cognitive mechanisms underlying RPM differ. Thirty-two adults displayed significant advantage over Wechsler Full-Scale Performance scores relative typical controls, while 25 children was found only. As previously autistics, achieved at level reflecting ability. Therefore, span imply common mechanism advantageously applied facets cognition. Autistic atypical, but also genuine, general, underestimated.
