摘要: Introduction Bosentan is an endothelin-1 receptor antagonist with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiproliferative effects. We aimed to evaluate its effects on lung tissue in a pulmonary contusion (PC) model. Materials Methods The rats were randomly divided into five groups: PC3: PC evaluated the 3rd day (n = 8), PC-B3: enteral bosentan 100 mg/kg/day, for 3 days PC7: 7th (n = 7), PC-B7: 7 C: control (n = 6). Unilateral was created by dropping metal weight onto chest. The sacrificed or days. histopathologically alveolar edema, congestion, leukocyte infiltration, biochemically malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), nitric oxide (NO) levels, immunohistochemically inducible synthase (iNOS), endothelial (eNOS), apoptosis scores. Results Alveolar infiltration scores increased all groups compared group (p   0.05). Bosentan treatment caused decreased MDA SOD levels comparison nontreated Conclusion PC causes progressive damage. reduced edema congestion PC. It also levels. prevents damage inhibiting acute inflammatory response reduces oxidative stress secondary inflammation. has therapeutic apoptosis.
