摘要: Abstract Pumped-storage hydropower is one of the most viable large-scale energy storage options. When managed optimally, pumped-storage may also bring monetary benefits due to price variations in electricity market. Two main concerns are lack suitable sites and potential environmental impacts, which can be alleviated by using already existing, closely situated reservoirs. The goal this study develop operating strategies for cascade systems composed existing plants. Main challenges treatment stochastic behavior inflows hourly variations. In study, monthly historical used as inputs generate rule curves. Based on past prices, a scenario-based approach developed reflect uncertainty Combining two approaches, nonlinear mathematical models constructed obtain average annual revenues plants systems. solved multi-reservoir system Coruh Basin Turkey five different scenarios based prices years 2013–2017. revenue gain ranged between 2.9% 10.4%. It concluded that operation plant mode brings additional revenue.
