摘要: Discretionary time outside of school offers a distinct context that can promote adolescent development; however, potential for growth depends in part on how this is used. In study, person-centered analyses were used to examine patterns breadth participation both organized and unstructured leisure activities among rural adolescents (N = 276, 49 % female) across grades 7, 8, 10. Adjusting self-selection factors, the study associated these with 10th grade outcomes. Three profiles emerged: consistently low breadth, average high involvement over time. The most popular activity types profile groups hanging out friends, team sports, outdoor activities. Adolescents involved greater reported greatest best functioning. showed poorer engaged all at higher rates than profiles. We advocate continued efforts increase variety different out-of-school
