Small aortic root in the elderly: use of stentless bioprosthesis.

摘要: Background and aims of the study Aortic root enlargement in elderly patient prolongs aortic valve replacement procedures may be problematic if is calcified. Mechanical valves have superior hemodynamics compared to tissue smaller sizes but are often contraindicated older patient. Materials methods Between January 1993 November 1995, we implanted 80 Freestyle (Medtronic, Irvine, CA) stentless porcine using freehand subcoronary technique. Twenty-seven patients had small roots with an average age 76.3 years (69-84). Seven received size 19 20 21 valves. Results The echocardiographic gradient at hospital discharge was 17.9 mmHg (12.1-23.0) for 15.3 (5.7-27.9) 21. At one year postoperative follow up decreased 12.9 (9.3-17.5) 8.0 (2.2-19.3) Effective orifice areas increased from 1.09 cm2 time 1.29 valves, 1.30 1.56 No more than mild insufficiency most recent up.
