摘要: Abstract Fossil fuel dependence has been linked to the unprecedented faster rate of climate change, thereby forcing us look into other viable renewable resources such as biofuel. Seaweeds are identified a sustainable biomass that can potentially support biofuel production demands. They have better productivity, cheaper cultivation, and greater mass farming potential. Anaerobic digestion for methane, fermentation ethanol or butanol, hydrothermal liquefaction bio-oil suit seaweed utilization. Breakthroughs in microbial metabolic engineering anaerobic process development may lay ground successful transition biofuel-based economy.
