摘要: Bacteroides ovatus was grown in batch culture on 12 different carbon sources (five polysaccharides, seven monosaccharides and disaccharides). Specific growth rates were determined for each substrate together with polysaccharidase glycosidase activities. Growth polymerized carbohydrates as fast or faster than corresponding simple sugars, demonstrating that the rate of polysaccharide depolymerization not a factor limiting growth. synthesized large range polymer-degrading enzymes. These polysaccharidases glycosidases generally repressed during but arabinose required optimal production alpha-arabinofuranosidase. Polysaccharidase activities measured continuous cultures either xylan guar gum under putative limitation. With exception beta-xylosidase, enzymes inversely related to rate. This correlated utilization which greatest at low dilution rates. results show Bact. is highly adapted carbohydrate human colon confirm polysaccharides partly regulated level enzyme synthesis.
