摘要: Objective: Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adulthood is a serious health problem with prevalence of up to 4%. Limbic structures have been implicated the genesis ADHD; it has suggested that they mediate mood and cognitive disturbances affected individuals. Recently, large study involving children adolescents ADHD reported bilateral enlargement hippocampus indirect evidence amygdala volume loss this patient sample. We sought test hypothesis that, like pediatric patients, there might be abnormalities adult patients ADHD. Methods: studied 27 group-matched healthy volunteers using 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging scanner. manually obtained morphometric measurements regions mentioned. Results: In contrast previous findings adolescents, we found no significant differences volumes among adults without disorder. Conclusion: Findings are not very stable across different samples Contradictory may related locations alterations along complex circuits responsible for symptoms Further studies larger multimodal designs needed.
